The Chres Village School & Orphanage now have their own t-shirts
Next to teaching English and organising fundraisings, we (Sara & Paul) were looking for new ways to help the Chres Village School & Orphanage – and came up with the idea to produce t-shirts that the orphanage could sell to visitors and volunteers.
We offered to finance the first production and with the money the orphanage earns from the sale they can produce new shirts and more importantly have extra money for food or supplies.
Fi loved the idea and so we arranged a drawing competition among the orphans. The best picture would be printed on the front of the shirt. With so many good pictures it wasn’t an easy decision, but in the end the chairman Pong Sena, Fi, Paul and I agreed on Nep Neang’s drawing.
Paul then designed the layout of the t-shirt and we found someone who could print them for us (screen printing done by hand).
We produced a first load of red, green and black shirts to sell to visitors and volunteers and ordered an extra 55 green t-shirts as a present for the children and the family living at the orphanage. The children love their new t-shirts and wear them with a lot of pride. And it is great to see how popular the shirts are among the visitors – we already had to produce a second load.
Everyone who buys a shirt supports the orphanage and brings them the much-needed attention, when wearing the shirt back home. Hopefully this way more people will see their website, learn more about the great work that is being done at Chres Village School and Orphanage and will want to help too.
