Skandia’s Engagement in Cambodia
Our former employee Sara Wallimann left to go on a world tour with her partner Paul. On their trip around the world they passed by the Chres Village School & Orphanage in Cambodia. Sara and Paul provided the orphanage with all the commitment and time they had, but it was obvious, that they needed more help. So Sara asked Skandia Switzerland, if we would help them to start a collection for new bicycles and a ton of rise. After doing so and seeing that the bounty was a full success, we started a second collection within the whole company. The aim was to finance the building of new toilets.
Why this organization?
The main reason why we chose this organization was definitely the personal relationship, which was established thanks to Sara and Paul. Another relevant factor, which convinced us, was the fact that there weren’t any administration costs spent. The whole sum we collected reached the orphanage and was invested to 100%. We could also follow the development of the project very clearly. Sara and Paul, as well as the Chres Village School & Orphanage, always kept us up to date with the current activities and pictures around the construction of the toilets. These facts make a difference, but the main reason of our action was the pure reason, that we live in a healthy and wealthy environment and that the children in Cambodia desperately need our direct help. We will keep an eye on the progress of the Chres Village School & Orphanage and are willing to support further projects.
