Sponsoring a child is a very effective way of helping us to provide long term help for the children.

When you become a sponsor through The SOCPLSDO, you will be helping us to provide health care, an all important education and a subsequently a future for an orphaned child. Being a sponsor you are able to secure a child with a future which would not have be very bright without the help you provide.  You will be helping orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children to grow up in an environment that is stable, secure and among friends and people who care for them.

Sponsor Q & A

Can I choose a child to sponsor?

The quick answer is no.
Privacy issues are involved in sending out details of children to our sponsors. You can however indicate to us what particular type of child you would like to sponsor (boy, girl and approximate age).

Can I write to the child / children I sponsor ?

Sponsors are welcome to send letters and photos to the children, the children of the orphanage always like to receive them.  If there are translation difficulties we will arrange for the letter to be verbally translated to them. We strongly encourage sponsors to send photos and pictures by their own children, as these are greatly appreciated by the children.  Due to practicalities the children are unable to reply to every letter or write a thank you letter for every gift, although for those children learning English, we encourage them to write their own letters to their sponsor. 

How will my sponsorship money be spent?

100% of your sponsorship money will go towards the expenses of the orphans in the orphanage. We are unable to use donated monies on a child by child basis - however, if you want to give additional gifts to your sponsored child / children for birthdays or Christmas, we will ensure that this money is used for your specific child / children.

What does it cost to sponsor a child?

We would recommend a minimum donation of $21 / £15 / €17 but understand this might not be possible, we are very gratetful to receive any sponsorship amount that you are able to afford, the basic yearly cost for 1 orphan child for food and schooling is $550, that is just $1.50 per day to change a child's life. 
Sponsors are very welcome to give a higher amount than this and any surplus will be used to benefit the orphanage.
