About Us

The Hartley-Bonito Family

We are a normal, average family who live in Hampshire, England, along with our four cats. We never intended to have so many, but have kind of adopted them along the way.

‘We’ are:
Steve – who does things with computers & electronics for a living (no idea what though!), and who adores cats (even though he denies it!).
Donna – a teacher, working with special needs children, who loves going into work because every day brings a new challenge and opportunity to help others.
Sam – a trained nurse – also, and most importantly, our amazing, incredible, feisty, big-hearted daughter, who has inspired us to become involved with SOCPLSDO by following her example to give and not count the cost.
Josh – our football / X-box obsessed son - a brilliant artist with plans to study Art when he leaves school. He supports Man Utd. and if he isn’t watching them play, then he’s out playing for his local team in some muddy rain-soaked field, usually in the middle of nowhere!

In October 2008, we waved goodbye to Sam, and her fiancé Giles, as they flew away to travel around Thailand, Asia and Australia for a year. Tears were shed, but how wonderful it was to see our daughter so happy and excited about the adventures that lay ahead.

Far too many to mention here, but the one thing that really touched our hearts was reading about Chres Orphanage in Cambodia, where Sam was able to work for a while. Learning about life in the Orphanage through a first-hand account, seeing the photographs, and gaining an understanding of the brilliant work that goes on really inspired us to want to help in any way possible.

Steve therefore decided to design this website to tell people more, and to try to raise much-needed funds to support the Orphanage. The four of us are also planning to spend the summer of 2010 working in the Orphanage, offering practical support and assistance – we really cannot wait!
